The Largest Outdoor Muslim Gathering at NJ Six Flags

EBRU News —It was the first time that this day fell during Eid-al-Fitr, the festival that ends the daytime fast during the month of Ramadan. More than 20,000 attended Muslim Youth Day, which expanded to two days because of its coincidence with Eid. The Islamic Circle of North America requested the day as a celebration for end of Ramadan, a Muslim religious observance in which participating Muslims fast from dawn until sunset. Source Article

This year's gathering kicked off with the special congregational Eid prayer around 10 a.m. at Great Adventure's fountain.

Each year, Muslim Youth Day includes a variety of halal food from throughout the Muslim world. There was also a bazaar with Islamic clothing. And, of course, there were the amusement park's rides.

Because they often are the minority, Muslim youth need a strong sense of unity, especially in regards to traditions of faith and heritage. Muslim Youth Day provides an opportunity to instill that, while also offering a fun family day filled with mainstream pop culture.

Non-Muslim families were also encouraged to attend the event to foster friendships and fun.
